Tigers Vs Everybody

The University of Memphis Tigers have released their 2015-2016 football schedule.  Fuente and company open the season on their home turf  against the Missouri State Bears.

Several of the Tigers have landed on various preseason watch lists.  Paxton Lynch leads the way by landing on the Maxwell Award and the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Watch Lists.  The Maxwell Award is for the Player of the Year.  Center Greg Kuhn is on the Rimington Trophy Watch List.  Senior tight end Allan Cross has earned a spot on the John Mackey Award Watch List.  Cross and junior place-kicker Jake Elliott have been named to Athlon Sports’ preseason all-conference first team.

Senior linebacker Wynton McManis has been named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list.  McManis is also a nominee for the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®.  The Wuerffel Trophy is presented to the college football player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.  The Good Works Team honors student-athletes for exemplary community service.  Nominees have to be actively involved and committed to working with a charitable organization, service group or community service and maintain good grades.  Candidates have to display sincere concern and reliability, while also having made a favorable impression on the organizations with which they are involved.McManis was a member of head coach Justin Fuente’s Leadership Council as a sophomore. McManis is also part of a grassroots effort in Memphis called the “Gentlemen’s Academy” which teaches young males about manners and respect.
