“In #3 We Trust”

University of Memphis senior wide receiver Anthony Miller definitely has many people saying his name around town. The star player made a name for himself in the past two seasons at University of Memphis.

Miller is a Memphis native, former standout at Christian Brothers High School, and currently a member of the Memphis Football Team. “Its no better feeling than to play for the home team” Miller said. “There’s no other team I’d rather play for”. He was a walk on and was red-shirted his freshman year in 2013. The following season, he suffered a preseason injury that prevented him from seeing any action in 2014 season.

But that did not stop him from living up to his potential.  2015 was his breakout season.  Miller played in 12 games and started four of those. His breakout moment was in the home game against Cincinnati, he caught five passes for his season high 156 yards and scored his first collegiate touchdown.

Miller finished the 2015 season being the 3rd leading receiver in receptions (47), 2nd in yardage (694) and completed 5 touchdowns.

In the 2016 season, Anthony Miller continued to prove to everyone what he was really capable of. He started in all 13 games, set school records in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown catches. He was ranked in the top 5 in the American Athletic Conference Leaders in receptions (95), receiving yards (1,434) and ranked 9th in touchdowns catches (14).

2016 season was more than impressive for Miller, it was a “show out” season.

In last Saturday’s game against the Bruins, Miller outstanding performance in the game had the student section hyped up and many began to chant the words ” In #3 We Trust”, which is the number that he wears on his jersey.

Miller’s striking performance helped the Tigers to defeat UCLA with a score of 48-45.

The football team will take on Southern Illinois University this coming Saturday September 23 for its Homecoming game at 7 PM in the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium and will air live on WMC TV and Watch ESPN.
