‘CORE FOUR’ COURTS AT HALLE PARK

Earlier this year, August 27th to be exact, the Memphis Grizzlies announced plans to renovate the basketball courts at the Mt Moriah precint.  .  This was the first time I heard DJ address  the subject of out jumping the legend that is Vince Carter.

The Grizzlies and the Department of Parks and Neighborhoods teamed up to complete a total makeover and renovation of the four courts.  Conley, Gasol, Randolph and Allen now have courts named after them.  Each hosted a Jr. NBA Youth Basketball Clinic on their respective courts.

Memphis Police Department officers will coach youth alongside the Core Four and Grizzlies Youth Basketball Clinicians as part of a bigger element of the Grizzlies’ relationship with the Memphis Police Department and their commitment to bridging the gap between police officers and the communities they serve.

As part of the Grizzlies Cares initiative, the new courts at Halle Park aim to give the community access to safe outdoor parks and programs to help youth develop their full potential.  The court revitalization and unveiling was purposefully planned to debut during the NBA’s #JrNBAWeek (Oct. 17-25).  The Jr. NBA is the league’s youth basketball participation program that teaches the fundamental skill and values of the game at the grassroots level to help grow and improve the game, and to help youth develop a lifelong passion for basketball.  The program aims to reach five million youth ages 6-14 in the US and Canada over a two-year period since the program’s inception in October 2015.
