Grizzlies defeat Maccabi in Preseason Exhibition

Haifa Maccabi Haifa 84 – Memphis Grizzlies 97

The Memphis Grizzlies secure their second victory in as many pre-season games. Only 12,171 were in attendance to watch the Grizzlies work out the kinks against Maccabi.

This has been an eventful week of roster changes for the Memphis Grizzlies.  On Tuesday  (Oct. 6) the Grizzlies signed free agent forward, Sampson Carter.  The following day Michael Holyfield was waived and Alex Stephenson is signed.  In Thursday’s game, Carter saw minimal time and Stephenson did not play.

I was looking forward to seeing Russ Smith lead the team in scoring for the second game in a row.  However Smith did not play due to a twisted ankle.  Marc Gasol led the way with 23 points and four blocks.  Brandon Wright snagged a team high nine rebounds and pitched in eight points.

Last season the Grizzlies averaged just over 13 turnovers per game.  They have turned the ball over 47 times (Avg. 23.5) in the first two preseason games.

The Grizzlies Fall Break Basketball Camp begins Monday and runs thru Thursday.  Coach Joeger will make an appearance at the camp on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The Grizzlies next game is Monday in Cleveland against the Cavaliers.  Tickets are still available.  For information about 15 and 22 game packs  call 901-888-HOOP or click here.
