MARKEL CARRIED THE TIGERS TO VICTORY
The talk of the Tigers has been Markel Crawford and the 28 points he scored against the South Carolina Gamecocks. It’s been the talk for everyone except Markel. Crawford put that game behind him that night and began to prepare for the Huskies. The preparation appeared to payoff as Markel led the Tigers at halftime with 11 points and 4 rebounds. He picks up where he left off, scoring the Tigers first 4 points of the second half. Crawford finished the game with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assisst, and 1 steal.
As the Tigers continue to grind it out without Chad Rykhoek, different players are contributing in the spirit of ‘Next Man Up’. Tonight Jimario Rivers stepped up with 16 points and 2 rebounds in 24 minutes. Four assists shy of a triple double, Dedric Lawson scored 15 points and snagged 11 rebounds. For the third consecutive game, KJ Lawson’s production is down. KJ played 39 points but only scored 9 points. Jeremiah Martin scored his only 3 points of the game with 3 minutes left on the clock. Although he only scored 3 points, Coach Smith praised Jeremiah’s defensive contribution to the Tigers winning effort.
The Tigers next two games are on the road at Tulane and then Tulsa. The next home game is January 14th when USF steps into the Fed Ex Forum.
