Matt Barnes Day

Before today, if you mentioned Matt Barnes name in Memphis, you would get 98% negative comments.  After all, he has been a member of the rival Los Angeles Clippers for the past three seasons.  Barnes has been in the middle of a couple of on court skirmishes against the Grizzlies over the years.

Now he is one of us, a Memphis Grizzly, member of Grizz Nation, and resident of the Grindhouse.  Tuesday, July28, 2015 was alson known as Matt Barnes day.  The day he was finally introduced as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.  Barnes is excited to be a member of the team.  He looks forward to playing alongside Tony Allen.

Chris Wallace started the press conference by saying “if there is anyone that was desined to be a Memphis Grizzly, it was Matt Barnes”.  Wallace was referring to Matt Barnes’ style of play.  However,  the Grizzlies originally drafted Barnes in the second round in the 2002 draft.  He was traded later on that night.

Matt Barnes is currently 35 years old, entering his 14th season with the NBA, and the Grizzlies marks his tenth team.  Despite his age, Barnes insists that he has plenty of fuel left in the tank.  Although he is not known for his three point shooting, he is a decent shooter.  Not the shooter that the Grizz desperately need but definitely an upgrade in the shooting department.

He’s excited to be here.  I’m excited he’s here.  Now for all,of the reasons that we hated playing against him, we now have those things working in our favor.

As of right now we all have not so good memorie of Matt Barnes.  He knows this and looks forward to winning over the fans and winning a lot of games.
