
Memphis defeats Tulane
The Tigers travel down to New Orleans to take on the Green Wave of Tulane. Things got off to a great great start for Memphis and just the opposite for Tulane. Tanner Lee’s first past was intercepted by Bobby McCain who returned it 15 yards for a touchdown. The Tigers scored in every quarter of the game.
Tiger quarterback Paxton Lynch completed 14 of 25 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown. Paxton gained four more yards rushing for a touchdown. Memphis rushed for 158 yards. Brandon Hayes had 47 of those yards. Robert Davis also rushed for 47 yards including a two yard rush late in the fourth quarter.
The Green Wave led the Tigers in just about every statistical category including turnovers. Lee (Tulane) completed 26 of 48 passes for 196 yards and was intercepted three times. Two of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns. Tulane did not score until 1:55 left in the game.
The Tigers are first place in the AAC and are bowl eligible for the first time since 2008. The (7-3) Tigers next game is at the Liberty Bowl Saturday November 22, 2014 against the South Florida Bulls (4-6).
