Memphis Grizzlies hang on for victory

Mike Conley misses his second game in a row. Jeff Green plays his first home game in a Grizzlies uniform. Just one week after Zach Randolph joins the 15,000 point club he becomes the franchises all time leading rebounder. With the 102-98 win over the Trail Blazers the Grizzlies extend their win streak to four games. The Memphis Grizzlies led by as many as 20 points and the Trail Blazers were able to get as close as two points thanks to 12-2 run in the fourth quarter. The teams has won eight of their last 11 games.

With 4:20 left in the first quarter Jeff Green enters the game and the crowd erupts. The timing couldn’t be better for the Grizzlies as Conley is day to day with sprained ankles. Grizzlies had five players in double figures. Zach Randolph lead the way with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Lee, Udrih and Green all scored 17 points apiece. Udrih shot 7-7 from the field. Big Spain added another points and eight rebounds. Memphis’ bench outscored Portland 20-9 in the first half.

The Grizzlies put their four game winning streak on the line Monday against the Dallas Mavericks Monday in their annual MLK Day game. Point guard Mike Conley warmed up before the game. He said he felt he should rest his sore right ankle. He may play Monday night depending on how his ankle feels.
