Streak Over at 22

Friday night the Grizzlies tried to extend their home court winning streak to 23 against the San Antonio Spurs.  Both teams lost their last game and neither wanted to lose another.  People were all worried about Marc Gasol’s bruised knee, but it really didn’t effect his performance.  He played 40 minutes, scored 28 points, snagged 12 rebounds, blocked 4 shots, and added 2 assists.

The Grizzlies were playing from behind the entire game.  Halfway through the first quarter the Grizzlies had only scored four points.  During that same time the Spurs had put 15 points on the board.  Both teams scored ten more points in the second  half of the first quarter.  The Grizzlies never really recovered from that low scoring first quarter.  Mike Conley scored 23 points and passed for 23 assists.  Randolph was held to only 10 points and 8 rebounds. Tayshaun Prince added another 20 points from the bench.  The Grizz were down by as many as 15 points in the third quarter and got as close as 5 points in the fourth quarter.  The Spurs have won their last eight games against the Grizzlies. Disregarding the history between the two teams, Marc Gasol that tonight was the night.  “I don’t care how many times they beat us before,” Gasol said. “I felt we were going to get them. But, you know, it didn’t go that way.”

Sunday night the Grizzlies will try to end the two game losing streak and start another winning streak against the Miami Heat at The Grindhouse.
