Zach Randolph Rewards Carver High Students

This evening Zach Randolph hosts his second annual sit-down dinner for 150 students from Carver High School and Memphis Health Careers Academy.  The dinner is to reward the students for their achievements in academics, athletics and citizenship.

With January being National Mentoring Month, Randolph’s event falls under the My Borthers Keeper umbrella of the NBA’s commitment to improve the educational futures of boys and young men of color. My Brother’s Keeper is a multi-sector effort launched by President Obama and the White House to help put boys and young men of color on a pathway to success by building education, mentor and job opportunities in traditionally underserved communities.

The students were seated when Randolph arrive. He fixed plates, passed out food, and even the time out for a few selfies & snapchats.  After Z Bo had a chance  to mingle  with the  students he took a seat near the stage to enjoy his meal.

Randolph addressed the students in a question and answer conversation.  Tim Jordan askes the questions, Randolph provided the answers.

Once the conversation was over, students from both schools presented Zach with tokens of appreciation.  He was presented  with a painting of himself, strawberry cakes  made by the schools culinary department, key to the  city & City of Memphis cufflinks.  The biggest reward Randolph  recieved was intangible and that would be the gift of putting  a smile on the kids faces.
