Congratulation Hamilton High and Mitchell High; State Champs

Hoop City brought home two state championships this 2014-2015 high school basketball season. The Mitchell Tigers defended its Class A Tennessee State Championship and the Hamilton Wildcats won the Class AAA Tennessee State Championship.
The Mitchell Tigers defeated Union City 69-39 to win their second straight Class A title. The Tigers were lead by Jeremiah Martin (19 points) and Naba Echols (18 points). Martin was named tournament MVP and Class A Mr. Basketball. Martin has committed to play basketball at Louisiana Tech. Mitchell finished the season on an 18 game winning streak, giving them a final record of 32-6.
The Hamilton Wildcats won their first state championship since 2006. This was the first state championship as a Coach for former Hamilton Wildcat and Arkansas Razorbacks great, Todd Day. The Wildcats defeated Brentwood by three, 65-62. The Wildcats were lead by the Memphis Tigers signees, the Lawson brothers. Dedric Lawson finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds and K.J. Lawson added 17 points and 9 rebounds. K.J. won tournament MVP. Dedric was named Class AAA Mr. Basketball. Dedric is a five-star recruit and he was named to the McDonald’s All-American team.
Mitchell and Hamilton did an outstanding job at representing for the City of Memphis aka Hoop City.
