The Grizzlies appear to return to the team they were the first half of the season as they defeat the Chicago Bulls 101-91.  This comes after they drop the first games of  their road trip in New Orleans on Saturday night.  The Bulls are currently playing without  Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, and Taj Gibson. After losing at New Orleans on Saturday, 95-89, the Grizzlies fell to 3-4 over their past seven games.  We needed this win for a momentum shift.

Four Grizzlies score in double figures.  Marc Gasol leads the way with 23 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.  Jeff Green pitched in 19 points and seven rebounds.  Randolph scored 16 points and was rebound shy of a double double.  Tony Allen came thru  with 11 points, two rebounds and three steals.

In just 13 minutes of play Vince Carter scored nine points, grabbed two rebounds, got one steal.  Good to see Vince back in action.  He looks better in a uniform on the court than in a suit at the broadcasters table.

The last time the Gasol brothers faced off was All Star Weekend a few weeks ago.  The last time the Grizzlies faced the Bulls was on Beale Street back in December.  The brothers always enjoy playing against each other.

Memphis went into halftime with a two point lead.  In the third quarter the lead grew to 11 points.  Marc Gasol scored 15 of his 23 points oin the third quarter.  In the fourth quarter the Bulls erased the deficit and took a four point lead.  Memphis put together a 17-3 run to finish the game with the 101-91 victory.

Marc Gasol says that the defense was the key to getting the W “Defense was the key for the whole game. We scored offensively, we made some shots, that makes them come out of the cave; but defense was the key. They were able to hit some tough shots, but we were able to contain them and play aggressively in the defensive end.”

The Grizzlies continue their road trip Wednesday night in Boston.  Next home game is Saturday when we host the 33-30 Bucks.
