Grizz finish off the Raptors in the Fourth

Marc Gasol leads the Memphis Grizzlies to a 96-82 victory over the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night. Zach Randolph added yet another double double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Mike Conley was the only other Grizzly in double digit scoring with 12 points, four rebounds and two assists. It didn’t take long for Jeff Green to work his way into the Grizzlies starting line up. He scored six points in 26 minutes in his first start. Kosta Koufos helped from the bench for Memphis with eight points, five rebounds and two blocks.

Kyle Lowry led the Raptors with 20 points and eight rebounds. The Raptors had four other players in double digit scoring. However, the Memphis defense was able to hold the Raptors to 32% shooting on the night. The Raptors out rebounded the Grizzlies 50-45 but their poor shooting cost them the game.

Mike Conley energized the FedExForum crowd with the Grizzlies’ first three-point field goal with 2:13 remaining in the fourth quarter… Conley’s clutch three was part of a 29-7 Memphis run that sealed the victory for the home team that stretched from 5:35 mark (71-70 Grizzlies lead) to the 43.6 mark in the final period. The game tied 14 times and the lead changed six times. The game remained close most of the night. Memphis trailed by one point heading into the fourth quarter, but they outscored the Raptors 32-25. The Grizzlies managed to put together a 13-3 run in the fourth quarter to secure their victory.
Tony Allen had this to say about Zach Randolph. “He was up. Anytime the big is talking loud and he is communicating early with the guard, he is going to get praise. I thought that he and Marc (Gasol) did a good job communicating, even in transition, those bigs then get too many easy buckets. Shout out to those guys for paying attention in shootaround and paying attention to detail with this game plan.”
The Grizzlies next game is Saturday against the 76ers.
