Friday night the Lakers came to town to take on the Grizzlies and the Grizzlies took them out.  After playing a close game the Grizzlies put together a fourth quarter performance to beat the Lakers 97-90.

Mr. Double Double strikes again.  Zach Randolph leads the Grizzlies with 24 points and 13 rebounds.  His Blues Borther Marc Gasol was right behind him with 18 points and six rebounds.  Jeff Green added 16 points and five rebounds.  The Grindfather, Tony Allen grinded his way to 15 points and five rebounds.  Point guard Mike Conley scored 12 points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out six assists.  Vince Carter returned to action tonight.  He only played 6:23.  He didn’t score any points but he did grab two rebounds.

“It was a good game. They played hard. They had us on our heels tonight. We couldn’t make shots to hit shots. It was a good game. We just kept playing. It was a team win. Courtney (Lee), Jeff (Green), Mike (Conley), everybody had a good game, Marc (Gasol) too. That’s what we need to do, be a team win and everyone contribute.  I feel good. I have been waiting for this. I have been fighting for this for about a week now. Putting me on the court was probably a relief for everyone else. I was itching to get back. Wearing a suit is great and doing the TV games are great but it’s nothing like being out there. It just felt good to get out there and be a player again.” Mike Conley

The Grizzlies outscore the Lakers 30-19 in the fourth quarter.  With the score at 79-66 Lakers and 9:06 remaining in the final period, the Grizzlies went on a 13-4 run to get within one point with 4:13 left on the clock… The Grizzlies then went on a 15-7 run to take the game.

The Grizzlies next game is Saturday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.
