Grizzlies @ Clippers

Grizzlies – 92 @ Clippers – 94

There is never a dull moment when it comes to a Grizzlies vs Clippers game.  The buzz about this game began last week when both teams suffered a loss at the hands of the Golden State Warriors.  True enough the Grizzlies lost by 50 points and the Clippers only loss by four points,  but a loss is a loss.  After the game the Clippers posted a tweet with the hashtag #didntloseby50.  Another element to the game is that Matt Barnes suits up with his new team to go against his old team.  Barnes is playing with extra motivation and a grudge because he says his old coach Doc Rivers “didn’t want him.”  The Clippers are the second one of Zach Randolph’s former teams that the Grizzlies have played on the road trip.

Grizzlies come out to a fast start.  ZBo was in double digit scoring in less than 9 minutes.  Matt Barnes enters the game earlier than usual tonight.  He wastes no time getting a reaction from the crowd when he fouls Jamal Crawford pretty hard on a 3-point attempt towards the end of the first quarter.  The Grizzlies have a one point lead at the end of the  1st quarter, 26-25.  Their problems have come in 2nd and 3rd quarters.

The Clippers start the 2nd quarter on a 9-2 run.  The Grizzlies lose and regain the lead.  Both teams head to the locker room with 46 points.  The Clippers are averaging 12.5 turnovers per game, but the Grizzlies have forced 12 turnovers in the first half.

The Grizzlies trail by points heading into the fourth quarter.  We all thought the Grizzlies had a chance to win.  The final seconds of the game played out at the free throw line, where Marc Gasol missed three out of four free throws.  The Grizzlies lose by a score 0f 92-94, two points.  Those three missed free throws made the difference late in the game.

The Grizzlies next game is Wednesday night as they return home from a five game west coast road trip to face none other than the Golden State Warriors.  For game ticket information call 901-888-HOOP (4667) or click here.
