Memphis Grizzlies win against Spurs

Tuesday night the Grizzlies defeat the Spurs 95-87. This marks the fifth game in a row Zach Randolph did not play  due to a sore knee. Beno Udrih (left lower leg contusion) is questionable. The last time the two teams met the game ended in triple overtime Grizzlies victory, 117-116. Only three Memphis Grizzlies scored in double figures as Memphis takes down San Antonio Tuesday night. Mike Conley led the way with 30 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Memphis didn’t waste any time getting to work. Mike Conley’s 16 point first quarter effort helped the Grizzlies build an early lead. Conley finished the first half with 18 points. Gasol 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two blocks. Courtney Lee and Tony Allen combined for 15 points.

“It was good that we didn’t have to play 50-something minutes,” said Marc Gasol, who had 17 points and nine rebounds. “We did that by executing defensively especially. Offensively, we did a pretty good job of moving the ball and taking the open shot.”

“That team has had our number for three or four years,” Conley said. “With or without their starters, they seem to always beat us. It’s a huge win for us at home and a huge statement. Hopefully, we can just continue building off of it.”

“Our guys competed from start to finish,” Memphis coach Dave Joerger said. “.There were times where they looked a little crazy in the fourth quarter, but, by and large, I thought our defensive effort was tremendous.”

The Grizzlies next game is Friday night against the Lakers. Zach is likely to sit this one out also.
