Grizzlies Win Against 76ers

76ers VS Grizzlies

The Grizzlies are aiming to stay above five hundred and the 76ers are looking for their first win of the season.  The Philadelphia 76ers will have to get their first win of the season against another team.

Mike Conley led the Grizzlies in scoring with 20 points and also added five assists, four rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.  Marc Gasol was one point shy of a double double with nine points and 12 rebounds.  Matt Barnes and Jeff Green scored 13 a piece.  Even though his three point shot hasn’t fallen as many times as we would like, Barnes is obviously getting comfortable in his role on the Grizzlies and is becoming the player that we loved to hate but now we love him for giving opponents a reason to hate him.

During the pre game shoot around a fan asked Zach Randolph if he would play tonight and he said “I’m going to try to play tonight.”  From that I expected he would come off the bench and play limited minutes.  The starting line ups are announced and Randolph’s name is not on the list.  So, I guess I was right, if he plays he’ll come off the bench.  Well, at the last minute Zach replaces Barnes in the starting line up.  At that moment I could hear the thoughts of the Grizz Nation: “Why put him back in the starting line up?  We were doing so good without him.  I thought he was on the trading block.”  After his 17 point 11 rebound performance against the 76ers I hear different thoughts: “Z-Bo? yeah he’s our guy!  How did we ever doubt him?  We’d be crazy to trade him!”

Grizzlies lead the 76ers by six (37-31) at the half.  The 76ers managed to score 36 points in the 3rd quarter and Grizzlies fans started to worry that the 76ers would get their first “W” of the season in The GrindHouse.  Grizz Twitter was in a frenzy, finding it hard to believe that we were tied with the winless 76ers.  Grizz Twitter also accused the Grizzlies of playing down to their competition instead of up to their potential.  The Grizzlies led by as many as 11 and trailed by as much as five.  In a game with four ties and six lead changes, Memphis was able to stay above.500.  Tony Allen admits that turning the ball over 26 times will not work against Tuesday’s  game against Anthony Davis and the Pelicans.

The Grizzlies travel to New Orleans to play the Pelicans Tuesday before returning home for a three game home stand (Spurs, Suns, Thunder).  For information about tickets and Holiday game packs click here.
