Grizzlies Play Hard In The Big Easy

Grizzlies – 113 Vs Pelicans – 104

Tuesday night Marc Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies swooped into New Orleans and served the Pelicans their 14th loss of the season.  Former Memphis Tiger Tyreke Evans is now playing for the Pelicans, and this is his first game of the season.  His 20 point 10 rebound effort was no match for six Grizzlies scoring in double figures.

The Grizzlies get off to a sluggish start and fall to an early 14 point deficit.  A huge 14 point second quarter for Marc Gasol help, the Grizzlies gain their first lead of the game during.  The Pelicans respond by going on a 10-2 run.  By halftime the Grizzlies only trail the Pelicans by one point (65-64).

Marc Gasol finished the game with his third double double of the season scoring a career high 38 points and snagging 13 rebounds.  Matt Barnes added 13 points, three assists, and six rebounds making this his seventh consecutive game scoring in double figures.  Mie Conley and Mario Chalmers scored 11 points a piece.  Matt Barnes and Courtney Lee each scored 13 points and Zach scored 14.

One of the keys to the Grizzlies victory was keeping turnovers to a minimum.  Sunday night the Grizzlies turned the ball over 26 times against the 76ers and only six turnovers against the Pelicans.

The Grizzlies return to action Thursday night to begin  a three game home stand against the San Antonio Spurs.  For ticket information click here or dial 901-888-HOOP (4667).
