Jeff Green Is a Team Player

The Grizzlies have been struggling lately. Losing games to subpar teams like the Detroit Pistons. The Grizzlies blew a double-digit lead to the Pistons and lost by double digits, Tuesday. Zach Randolph was very upset with his teammates. He said that the team was playing soft and not finishing games. This has been a bad trend for the Grizzlies after the All-Star break. Since the All-Star break, the Grizzlies have post a record of 8-7. Most of those seven loses have come from teams that the Grizzlies were favored to beat.
The Grizzlies starting lineup before the Jeff Green trade was posting a +25.7 rating. However, after Coach Dave Joerger inserted Jeff Green in the starting lineup, the rating has drop to -7.5. Something has to change.
The Grizzlies faced the Dallas Mavericks last night, with a new starting lineup. Tony Allen inserted back into the starting lineup for Jeff Green. Most players want to start and it would destroy their confidence if they were no longer starting. Not Jeff Green; Jeff did a post game interview with the voice of the Memphis Grizzlies, Eric Hasseltine. Eric asked Jeff about the lineup change and Jeff said that he told Coach Joerger, that it would be best if he came off the bench. A team player, right?
The Grizzlies were back rolling last night against the Mavs. They control the game from beginning to the end. The final score was 112-101. The energy that Tony Allen brings helps the starting lineup. Green has more room to attack and use his athleticism with the second unit. Green finished with 15 points of the bench.
We have seen a good sample size of what the starting lineup can do with Tony Allen. Therefore, it is safe to say that the Grizzlies are back on track. However, we will find out Monday, March 23, when the Grizzlies will face the subpar New York Knicks. We know they will be focus for the Portland Trailblazers tonight. It is the subpar teams that the Grizzlies have had hard times with this season. I hope that that trend ends with Jeff Green decision to move to the second unit.
