Jimario Rivers leads the way

University of Memphis – 63  Vs University of New Orleans – 52

The University of Memphis Tigers Bsketball ` team looks to improve to above .500 for the season.  The New Orleans Privateers are in town looking to gain their first win of the season.  The Tigers haven’t been in action since last weeks win over UALR.  The two teams have not played  each other since 1989.

There’s always the fear that too many days in between game’s could cause a little rust.  But, in the case of the Tigers the more time in between games the better.  This  is a team that has a lot of new pieces and is still learning  how to play with each other.

Jimario Rivers and  Jeremiah Martin are the returning pieces from last years puzzle so they know how to play with each other.  Kyvon Davenport  has  asserted himself as a consistent and reliable contributor.

The Tigers are in control of this game from the beginning.  Jimario Rivers scores the  first two of the game on an assist from Brewton.  Rivers scores nine of the Tigers first eleven points, finishing the first half with twelve points and the only player scoring in double digits.  The New Orleans Privateers never had the lead.

New Orleans did not have a player reach double digit scoring until there were thirty six seconds left in the game.  Rivers (18), Martin (15), and Davenport ( 10) all finished with double digit scoring.   Those 18 points were enough  to give Jimario Rivers a new career high.
