Marc Gasol, is Making his Marc for MVP.

The Memphis Grizzlies have the best record in the NBA (12-2) and arguable the best center in the NBA, Marc Gasol. Most people know Marc as the younger brother of Pau Gasol. However, real basketball fans know Marc Gasol for being a member of the Blues Brothers, with Zach Randolph.

Zach and Marc are one of the best big-man tandems in the NBA. I am sure that when they both hang up their shoes and retire; they will go down as the best big-man duo in NBA history. The duo has leaded the Grizzlies, with the help from Tony Allen and Mike Conley to four straight playoff appearances.

Marc Gasol came into the 2014-15 season on a personal mission to be the best player in the NBA.  The first step he took into reaching this goal was losing a lot of weight. It would be hard not to notice his smaller frame. Marc looks faster and stronger. Grizzlies fans started to take notice of slimmer Marc during the FIBA World Championships. He is making quicker moves in the paint and he looked unstoppable against the L.A. Clippers this past Sunday, at FedExForum. Marc post 30 points and 12 rebounds in only 33 minutes of action. Marc open the season, scoring a career high (32 points) against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Marc is focus and engaged on leading the Grizzlies to new heights. The Grizzlies reach the Western Conference Finals, two seasons ago. If Marc continues this elite level of play, the Grizzlies could contend for a NBA championship. The chemistry between the core players is very strong. The team is on the same page and a lot of that has to do with this new Marc Gasol.

Marc is the key to the Grizzlies success. Zach Randolph said, “That Marc is the engine of the team.”  Marc won Defensive Player of the Year 2013. Marc is the anchor of the Grizzlies top rated defense. His knowledge of the game and skill level, allows the Grizzlies perimeter defense to play extremely aggressive. His teammates know Marc has their back on and off the court. The team has tremendous respect for Marc and they know he is the key to a championship parade down Beale Street.

Marc is currently the Grizzlies leading scorer (19.9 PPG) through 14 games. Which is a career high for Marc, he is also shooting 50% from the field, also a career high. The MVP Award is an award, given to the best player on the best team in the NBA. Right now, Marc is the best player, playing for the best team in the NBA. If Marc maintains his steady play and leadership role for the Memphis Grizzlies, it would be hard for the NBA to overlook him for the league’s MVP.
