Randolph and Allen Take Boys & Girls Shopping

Just as Jarrell Martin, Jordan Adams, Brandon Wright, and Jeff Green were finishing handing out gifts at LeBonheur Zach Randolph and Tony Allen were just beginning to spread some holiday cheer of their own. 200 kids from six different area Boys and Girls Clubs transcended upon Toys R Us to spend $100 gift cards provided by Allen, Randolph and the Grizzlies.  This is their fifth consecutive year doing this.

Ron Nelson is the club director of the John Dustin Beckman Boys and Girls Club at 1100 Vollintine.  He says, “This means a lot to these kids.  They come from disadvantaged situations where they may or may not can afford to have a Christmas.”  The kids are monitored all year long and the ones that earn it are rewarded by being 1 of 200 kids to participate in the shopping spree at Christmas time.  “Tony and Zach give an opportunity to the kids we notice all year long.  If no body else gets them anything for Christmas, the Grizzlies will get them something for Christmas.  That’s why we like to support the Grizzlies.  That’s why we like going to the games.  And that’s why they are number one in our hearts” says Nelson of the Grizzlies.
