SHAKE BACK SZN 2017

The Memphis Tigers football team has had a surprising start to the season with only one loss and four victories to move toward tomorrow’s game. The Tigers only need two more wins in order to be bowl eligible.

The team suffered a devastating loss against UCF (40-13) but snapped back the next week and pummeled UConn (70-31). The Tigers prepare to defeat No. 25 ranked Navy on this Saturday in its third American Athletic Conference game for the season.

The Tigers are 4-1 while Navy remain undefeated (5-0) f) or the first time since 2004. In the last two meetings between the two teams, Memphis has fallen to Navy each game. Tomorrow, the Tigers plan on snapping the losing streak.

This season the team has been plagued with injured players, losing some key players for the season. Losing Sam Craft and Darian Porter to season ending injuries put the Tigers in a tight position. One of the notable players on the team, Doroland Dorceus, had been in and out due to a hamstring injury suffered early in training camp.

In last week’s win over UConn, Dorecus explosive shake back into the game and had a powerful impact in the victory. The senior running back rushed 22 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Within his Memphis football career, Dorceus has 2,015 career rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 26 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns.

Dorceus also received recognition as being honoree for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose National Player of the week award. Dorceus, along with freshman quarterback, David Moore helped defeat the Huskies in the second half with both players showing off their raw talent.

Tomorrow’s game will air on ESPNU and will kickoff at 2:45 PM at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
