South Main Street Party

Two hours before the Memphis Tigers and Cinncinnati Bearcats face off at the Liberty Bowl, the Memphis Grizzlies Grizzline was busy entertaining the crowd at The South Main Street Party.

The party took place at outside of The Chisca at 272 South Main Street in downtown Memphis.  Several local restaurants, including Lyfe Kitchen and Central BBQ, set up remote locations on Main Street to provide food options for the party goers.

The Chisca Hotel, located in the South Main Historic Arts District, originally opened its doors on Christmas day in 1913.  The building as served as the home of WHBQ radio station and the Church of God in Christ throughout its existence.  Since the late 1990’s the building has been become more detraction than to attraction to historic downtown area.  A few years ago a $20 million renovation began on the property.  The finished product will include 149 apartments and ten homes.  Not only does this add another place to live in downtown Memphis, it will also add over 400 jobs to the city.

Fans were able to stop by the Grizzlies booth to pick up a schedule for the upcoming season and receive vouchers for tickets to pre-season games.  The first home pre-season game is October 6th against the Houston Rockets.  For more information on tickets Call: 901-888-HOOP (4667) or click here.
