Ole Miss 37 – Memphis 24

It’s been two weeks since the Tigers took the field and three weeks since being on their home field.  What better way to get back in action than against Ole Miss in Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

Tiger Football has not been this exciting since the DeAngelo Williams era.  I’m sure whether to call this the Paxton Lynch or Justin Fuente era.  Let’s go with the Lynch Fuente era for now.  Fuente took the reins of the Tiger football program four years ago and Lynch joined one year later.

The Tigers have not been ranked all season but after Saturday’s 37-24 victory over Ole Miss the jump to number 18 in the latest AP Poll.  Ole Miss jumped to an early 14-0.  Lynch Fuente responds with 31 unanswered points.  The two fourth quarter field goals by Jake Elliott were just icing on the cake.  Anthony Miller caught a career high 10 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. The Tigers’ current winning streak sits at 13 games, longest since 1938.

The win over Ole Miss makes them undefeated (6-0) and BOWL ELIGIBLE!!!  It’s official, we’re going bowling again. Lynch Fuente has not lost a game since last season.  Six games remain on regular season schedule.  The biggest challenges left appear to be Tulsa, Temple, and Houston. Is it to early for the 12-0 conversation.

The Memphis Tigers have been named AutoNations Team of the Week.

Paxton lynch has been named the AAC’s Offensive Player of the Week, his first weekly award of the season.
