WEEK 11: Melrose @ Hamilton

Melrose-32 VS Hamilton-6

See, there are Wildcats and then there are Golden Wildcats.  Friday night, Melrose proved to Hamilton that they are indeed the Golden Wildcats of Orange Mound Tennessee.  One week after suffering a 56-6 loss to the Ridgeway Roadrunners, Melrose is also out to prove to themselves that they are Golden.  I’ve seen these guys in practice, and I believe that they can beat any team on Any Given Friday.

This week Melrose is missing a major part of their offense, Starsky Miller. Miller is still sidelined from the injury he suffered from ;last week against ridgeway.  Successful teams operate by the “next man up” philosophy:  when you man goes down the next man must step up to take his place.  This week that man is Paris Wilson.  Wilson scored two touchdowns in the first half and converts one of two 2-point conversions.  Wilson also intercepted a pass in the third quarter.

Michael Malone is finally back in action after being sidelined with an ankle injury for several weeks.  Malone scores a touchdown in the first quarter and makes good on the two point conversion.  Senior Quemon Hayes also put six points on the board in the closing minutes of the first half.  The Golden Wildcats are scoreless in the third quarter.  That scoring drought doesn’t last long.  On the opening drive of the fourth quarter, Ahdai Paige finds DeQuan Dallas for the touchdown pass.  I also noticed Senior  Deangelo Howze punting for the Golden Wildcats.

The playoffs start next week.  Melrose will host the Westview Chargers from Martin, TN.  Westview’s record is 6-4 5-2.
