Grizzlies Beat Spurs in 3OT

The Grizzlies finally beat the Spurs, in TRIPLE OVERTIME!!!!!! In San Antonio at that. This is the teams third overtime within a weeks time. The Grizzlies have had trouble in the past beating the spurs. Grizzlies have not won in San Antonio since 2011.

Zach Randolph led the troops with 21 points and 21 rebounds in 48 minutes on the court. Five other Grizzlies scored in double figures. Marc Gasol scored 26 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Conley added 14 points, 10 assists, and 2 steals. Courtney Lee also had 14 points, going 2-7 from three point territory.
Vincanity scored 18 points going 5-9 from beyond the arc. Kosta Koufos only played 17 minutes. In that time he contributed 16 points and seven rebounds. Tim Duncan makes a jump shot as time expires in the second overtime period.

The Spurs did not have a lead in the game until the fourth quarter. Marco Belinelli makes 25-foot three point jumper to tie the game at 77 with 8:52 left in the game. For the next couple of minutes the teams trade buckets with each other until Danny Green makes 25-foot three point jumper to give the Spurs a 92 -89 lead. With two seconds left in the game, Marc Gasol banks in an off balanced three pointer to send the game into overtime. Gasol also sends the game into a second overtime by making a layup with nine seconds left on the clock. Zach Randolph scored all six of the Grizzlies points in the third overtime period. That was enough to Get The Grizz the victory.

The Spurs have been a rival of the Grizzlies for several seasons now. This victory is a great confidence builder for the Grizzlies. Now Memphis knows that they can beat San Antonio it should be easier to beat them the next time they play each other which will be March 29 in San Antonio.

Tony Allen did not play due to an eye injury sustained last nights game against the Golden State Warriors. Jarmell Stokes and Tayshaun Prince did not play, coach’s decision. Grizzlies next game is Friday against the Chicago Bulls at the FedEx Forum.
