One night after the shorthanded Grizzlies lost at home to the Utah Jazz, they are on the road against the Houston Rockets.   After trailing the majority of the game, Grizzlies end up winning 102-100.

With 5:30 left in the game the Grizzlies lead by 12 points.  A series of turnovers lead to a three point play for Terrance Jones of the Rockets.  The Rockets tie the game at 98 with a little over one minute left on the clock.  Two Courtney Lee free throws gives the Grizzlies a two point cushion.  Houston answers.  Game is tied at 100.  Grizzlies get a stop against James Harden with 5.4 seconds on the clock.  Big Spain hits a BIG SHOT with 0.1 left on the clock.  A fade away over Terrance Jones gives the Grizzlies a 1002-100 lead with not enough time for the Rockets to regain the lead

Five Grizzlies scored in double figures.  Marc Gasol led the way with 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and one blocked shot.  Mike Conley added another 17 points, two rebounds, and six assists.  After missing last nights game against the Jazz, Zach Randolph is back in action with 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three steals, and one blocked shot.  Jeff Green scored 12 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out four assists.  Tony Allen is back in action with 12 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.

The win extended Memphis’ lead over second-place Houston in the Southwest Division by two and a half games and tied the season series at 2-2. Prior to tonight’s win, Memphis lost 15 of their last 17 match ups in Houston.

Courtney Lee does an exceptional job defending James Harden, limiting him to only 18 points.   Lee Says that the key to good defense is to contest but not foul.

The Grizzlies next game is Friday when they host the Lakers.
