Tigers VS Blazers

University of Memphis Tigers 62 VS UAB Blazers 55

Saturday, December 10

 FedExForum (Memphis, Tennessee

Coming off of an upsetting loss to Ole Miss, the well rested University of Memphis Tigers are ready for the UAB Blazers.

The shots just weren’t falling for the Tigers in the first half.  Shooting 8 for 22 from the field and only 1 for 4 from three-point range caused the Tigers to trail the UAB Blazers 29-25 at halftime.

We all know that the best way out of a shooting slump is to shoot your way out of it, and that’s what the Tigers tried to do.  A slight improvement in the 2nd half shooting 41.2% (14-34), up from 36.4%  in the 1st half.  Dedric Lawson scored 13 of the Tigers 26 2nd half points.  Much different than last week, Lawson didn’t pick up his first foul until the 2nd half.  in 40 minutes Lawson finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 8 blocks, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

K J Lawson ties the game at the 8 minute mark of the 2nd half (48-48).  Dedric blocks a dunk on next possession.  K J finishes the game 1 point shy of a double double with 9 points and 11 rebounds.

The 6th man (Tiger Fans) cheered the team the rest of the way to victory.  This is why we need more of you to come out to the games.

Markel Crawford was the only other Tiger that scored in double digits.  Filling up the stat line with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.  Jeremiah Martin filled every column of the stat sheet: 7 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and one steal.

This was a fast paced game, so once you checked in you needed to be instantly productive.  There wasn’t time for ‘figuring it out’.  Chad Rykhoek only saw 9 minutes of action and Christian Kessee only saw 2 minutes.  Rykhoek and Kessee combined for 2 points and 1 rebound.  No doubt, through the remainder of the season Kessee’s 3point services and Chad’s inside presence will be just what the Tigers need to get a win.
