Grizzlies dodge overtime in win vs Lakers

The Grizzlies travel to L.A to take on the Lakers in game three of four of a regular season series. Friday night the Grizzlies remain unbeaten against the Lakers this season. For the sixth straight game, Zach Randolph did not suit up due to soreness in his knee. The last game that Randolph played in was the December nineteenth loss against the Chicago Bulls. The Grizzlies are three and three in the games that Randolph has missed.

In last nights game against the Lakers, five Grizzlies scored in double figures. Mike Conley led the team in scoring with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and was rebound shy of a double double. Marc Gasol did get the double double with 18 points , 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Courtney Lee scored 14 points shooting a perfect 2 for 2 from three point range. Beno Udrih came off the bench with 16 points in as many minutes. Tayshaun Prince shot 4 of 7 from the field for 12 points. This was Prince’s third game in a row scoring in double figures.

Kobe Bryant was one rebound and two assists away from a triple double. He only scored 15 points in the game. He only shot 6 of 14 from the field and 2 of 4 from three point range. One of those four misses was a last second prayer that Bryant heaved up trying to the send the game into overtime. He missed, Grizz win. Tony Allen didn’t have a great game on the stat sheet, but he put the clamps on Kobe Bryant and that made a huge difference in the game.

The Lakers recently picked up former Memphis Tiger Tarik Black but he did not play this game. The Grizzlies next game is tonight in Denver against the Nuggets.
