Grizzlies get the “W” in Portland

Finally the Grizzlies are back in action in their first game since the All Star Break. They are on the road in Portland taking on the Trailblazers. The Grizzlies improve to 40-14 on their 98-92 victory over the Trailblazers.

At the end of the first quarter Portland has a 21-19 lead over the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies go on a 12-1 run to take the lead 34-32 with a couple of minutes left in the first half. The game is tied 38-38 at halftime. Grizzlies defense came up with eight steals in the first half.

In the third quarter the Trailblazers lead by as many as 11 and trail by as many as 4. The Grizzlies put together a 17-6 run but were still outscored 39-26 in the third quarter. The score is 77-64 to end the third.

The Grizzlies go on a 12-0 run to claim an 87-85 lead with 4:00 left in the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies outscored the Trailblazers 11-7 in the last four minutes of the game and 34-15 in the entire fourth quarter.

Just shy of a double double Zach Randolph scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Four other Grizzlies were in double figures. Jeff Green added 12 points, five rebounds, and one steal. Marc Gasol filled up the stat sheet with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Courtney Lee contributed 19 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

The Grizzlies outscored the Trailblazer in the paint 54-26.

Grizzlies next game is tomorrow night in Los Angeles against the Clippers.
